Research & Development is at the "heart" of the Laboratoires Sérobiologiques.

Seeking novel raw materials and products, formulating new scientific concepts, testing the efficacy of products (including the development of new, objective measurement technologies), rigorous quality control and checking compliance with regulations: all these are essential stages in the creation of a new active ingredient.

From an innovative idea to a ready-to-use product: to meet this challenge, the multidisciplinary teams in our R&D Department have state-of-the-art resources available for objective investigations, with high-performance capacities for tissue culture, immunohistochemistry and the quantitative reverse-transcriptase polymerase chain reaction (qRT-PCR) as well as clinical testing possibilities.  

Bringing together biologists, chemical engineers, botanical chemists, pharmacists and experts in dermatology, LS R&D — recognised worldwide for its scientific and technical expertise in cosmetology — has always aimed at excellence in research by investing in order to bring the latest scientific innovations into research for the cosmetics industry.

Scientific collaborations

Research at LS is enriched by numerous collaborations and partnerships with internationally reputed scientific experts (including INSERM, CNRS, INRA and IRD as well as many renowned hospitals and universities).
Furthermore, the investments of LS in research include support to doctoral students and post-doctoral fellows developing experimental models for mechanistic investigations —often leading to scientific publications.

From the concept to the active ingredient

For more than sixty years, the Laboratoires Sérobiologiques have been developing novel active substances for the cosmetics industry.  
Throughout the R&D process for new active substances, innovation is embodied in the novel ingredients and processes that we exploit to develop unique, innovative concepts which will lead to the creation of tomorrow's beauty solutions.
The active ingredients developed by the R&D Department undergo rigorous testing in both laboratory and clinical testing, and many give rise to patents and scientific articles.
